DESCRIPTION:
"Georgia Regimental Research" according to Dean Moss McCracken. J. David Dameron's Benning's Brigade Volume 2 is a must for any Civil War historian researching the 2nd, 17th or 20th Georgia Regiments. Dameron also wrote Benning's Brigade Volume 1, covering the 15th Georgia. The work includes the original formation and command chain of each regiment. The complete roster also contains information on the different companies as well. Many of the soldiers listed in the roster have a brief description of their personal activity during the Civil War.Benning's (originally Toomb's) Brigade was one of the most widely traveled brigades. Well written history This book is well written and worth owning. Until this book, and its companion, a history of Henry Benning's brigade had not been written. Despite the poor editing (lots of typos and misspellings) I recommend this books highly.
Personal reflections from diaries, journals, correspondence, and reports provide a uniquely southern perspective of the American Civil War.. This volume is a history and roster of the individual regiments
