It is NOT an easy piano book -- I've been playing piano for roughly 18 years (caveat: I'm not as good as I should be for playing that long, I can't bust out Mozart or Rachmaninoff and I will probably never be able thanks to an eternal struggle with tiny hands), and I can manage the majority of Disney's sheet music without too much trouble. This is different. The jazz/ragtime/zydeco . "The Princess and the Frog score plays well" according to M. K. WALKER. Randy Newman wrote the music & lyrics for the film and I had enjoyed the music while watching. Mr. Newman has written many scores, but many of his songs are a vocal line with basic chordal accompaniment and I did not enjoy them since I don't sing or transpose very well. I was happy to play through the selections in this book and find that the piano portion supplied the melody and accompaniment very nic. M. Steane said Recommended with caveats. If you are not a competent piano player, much of this may be too difficult. You should probably go for the easy piano version instead.Given that this is a jazz-based score, it is to be expected that it should be difficult using jazzy chords and lots of syncopation.
