"Five Stars" according to Dave Anderson. My favorite C.V. Hunt story. This is so badass and awesome. Really entertaining. Read this. From "The Horror Fiction Review" You know how some medications and carnival rides have cautionary advisories for pregnant ladies? This is a book that could use one of those. Though, I suppose, the pentagram/coathanger sigil on the cover ought to be enough of a warning …It’s a nasty story. Just nasty throughout. Nasty sex, nasty gore, revenge porn, nasty people, cultists, cruelty, nasty nasty nasty. And, what can I say, I enjoyed it start to finish.The main character, Nick, is a real love-to-hate-him despicable piece of work. The sympathetic ways in which he’s fastidious and germophobic are more than outweighed by him . Definitely not for everyone but if you like things dark, disturbing, and graphic you will love this! WOW! I've read (and loved) CV's short story The Last Woman On Earth, but this is the first of her longer works I've read and I was so impressed! It's gory, it's full of sex, it's brutal, it's a punch in the gut in places, but it's also really well written. CV is very talented and handles the main characters (Nick and Eve) with grace, tact, and style even when the subject matter is manrape, cults, bizarre sex or some of the most gruesome gore since Ed Lee. You'll really want to put it down at some parts, but you won't be able to!
It's a life changing decision he's chosen to make without Eve's consultation. Every day he comes home from his dream job to a stale marriage. He purchases his dream home in an ideal location far away from family, friends, and coworkers. After a trip to the local doctor's office Eve begins to behave strangely. Nick is a spiteful man. He quickly realizes the residents of his new hometown are a bit eccentric. And once Nick finds out what's really going on he'll never be able to look at Eve the same way.. Nick is a terrified man. On the day he finally summons the courage to tell his wife, Eve, he wants a divorce she has exciting news for him - she's pregnant. Nick Graves is a miserable man
