Greekonomics: The Euro Crisis and Why Politicians Don't Get it

* Read * Greekonomics: The Euro Crisis and Why Politicians Dont Get it by Vicky Pryce ä eBook or Kindle ePUB. Greekonomics: The Euro Crisis and Why Politicians Dont Get it Could not put it down according to Arthur Kiriakis. This book was read in a weekend - I could not put it down. I have a background in Economics, so this was a relatively straightforward read. The author is clearly well-informed about global economics, the crisis and its origins, including the history of the Greek state since Independence. The author has more credence in my eyes because she is an Ethnic Greek. I would have looked at it with more narrow eyes had the author been German or French.

DESCRIPTION:

She pays particular attention to Greece, the country of her birth, the country first in the firing line in the Euro crisis and the country even now seen as Europe's 'problem child'. But as Pryce explains, the roots of the Euro's crisis are much broader than a set of profligate governments in Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Italy or Spain. This book will be required reading for economists, politicians, market practitioners, public servants and anyone interested in understanding the current crisis.. It not only explains the goods but the necessary bads and the need for the Eurobond to exist. Albeit it will never happen. If you want to learn quickly and efficiently this is the read of the decade. I'm in awe. I can't believe it's not a textbook in every school, every tv show, and a must for every politician!. Great insights from a Greek-English economist with political experience ! Great inside from an economist / politician with an Greek heritage - helps shed a light for those, who have not been as deeply involved on the Greek tragedy and the problems with the euro and the governments who can't seem to address the causes.

Radar, The Independent A lively and non-technical description of just how we got here with the euro-crisis. Before writing it, Pryce was a top civil servant, joint head of the UK's government economic service and before that she had a senior job in the City. After that, you're on your own.' Independent on Sunday ' Her account of the country's institutionalised rottennessis shatteringly comprehensive.' Sunday Times Culture 'Vicky Pryce has just written a book in which she argues that Greece could never have lived within the euro and economic Armageddon was an inevitability. A good read - It has intellectual depth and insider perspective - Flashes of humour - anExcellent achievement. The book, niftily titled Greekonomics, is an interesting and accessible polemic. Some of the economic detail is a little hard to follow, but Pryce works hard to be accessible, and highlights key facts that are contributing to people's anger in Greece - unemployment benefit, for example, is paid out for just
