Tragic, unforgettable characters in a gripping story. I can't believe my good fortune in finding this book. Sarah Rayne is a new author for me so when I saw the novel was described as a haunted house mystery I took a chance and found a gem of a story. The novel is set in modern times, but concerns research Oxford don Dr. . very good story, but not Rayne's most frightening 1toomany Rayne has an amazing ability to weave past and present into an amazing story! I'd characterize this more as a paranormal/supernatural love story then an eerie thriller. I did enjoy WWI aka "The Great War" being the main paranormal element of the story. Unfortunately, t.
