It is a very good introductory -- but not simplistic -- study of this John O. Gould, Topeka, KS The book arrived quickly in the stated condition. It is a very good introductory -- but not simplistic -- study of this letter from the Apostle Paul. Everything Motyer commentary writes is reliably biblical and worth the time and money invested. His theological perspective is Reformed.. "A great book - A reader in NC" according to Friend. I am very familiar with this Philippians commentary from The Bible Speaks Today Series (IVP). I loved the commentary and found his writing and perspective and understanding deep and penetrating but accessible.Motyer's area of focus is the links between OT and NT. He gives the reader a deep and insighful and personally meaningful discussion of the text, pointing out the meaning of the words in the original languages when it is helpful to our growth. I would love to read other things by Alec Motyer. Totally re. Elle said Great Insight into God's Word. I love this series on the Word of God. The authors break down each verse. They interpret the words and give excellent background information. Even though I have a Kindle, I usually buy these books in paperback. I love to make notes and reread sections over and over.
