Troyer said Great reference book. The book description is correct and each area is explained well in the book. This book coherently collects information to use in machine designs, especially in the specialty OEM. If you were to need more information on a subject, there are recommended resources in each subject area of the book, not at the end! There are also highlighted blocks of information for "CRITICAL CONSIDERATIONS" and "BEST PRACTI. The more I look at it the better it seems MSC Physics I received the book today and within an hour studying some pertinent material determined that a fundamental part of a design was wrong. Minimum savings in the $10,000s, maximum is many times that. Definitely the most cost-effective books I have or ever had.The more I look at it the better it seems. OK, it's not Machinery's. Thank goodness! I don't need thousands of tables of things that can be readily ca. "I saw this at a bookstore and thought enough of" according to Amazon Customer. I saw this at a bookstore and thought enough of it to order it. When it came it turned out to be a little less comprehensive than I initially thought. Still worthwhile. I'll never understand why this type of technical book is so expensive. More of an overview for and ME course in machine design rather than a solid reference.
From the Back Cover Would you like to see hole sizes and tolerances included in tables of common fastener sizes and related dimensional information rather than have to take extra time finding the data in separate tables?Could you make fast use of step-by-step procedures for common machine component selection and sizing activities, coupled with all the equations you need right there rather than sprinkled throughout a textbook? These are just two examples of how the task-specific grouping of reference material in Machine Designers Reference can help you and other busy de
This comprehensive reference was written with a single goal-to assist design professionals in their job quickly and efficiently. Because the job of the design professional has changed significantly this handbook aims to complement available software and assist in its efficient use. Focusing on the most common needs of the design professional, it pares down the information to just what is most frequently needed while providing the quickest possible access to necessary data. Features: * Presents design data in groups corresponding to these design activities to minimize time spent flipping pages. * Speeds up the selection process through contained formulas and guides that are designed to assist the working engineer while selecting machine components from catalogs rather than designing these common components from scratch. Designed with the working mechanical designer in mind, users will save time in selection, sizing, and tolerancing of mechanical parts and assemblies. Most books containing similar data are targeted at shop personnel or students. This book i
