"Incredibly useful" according to M. Brown. This work contains a number of important plays and masques by Ben Jonson and his collaborators, including the best annotated edition of The Alchemist I've found. While it by no means contains all of his works (the man was prolific, but in many ways this title should be "Ben Jonson's Comedies and Masques"), it's a great start if you're looking to build a library of Renaissance plays and perform. An Excellent Book on Which to Build One's Study of Ben Jonson FCD117 This is a great book. It is very academic. I find it to be a typical Norton Critical Edition. I mean that in a good way. It contains selected works, not all works.My interest in Ben Jonson revolves around Shakespeare. They were contemporaries and fellow playwrights. I started simply attempting to build on my woeful knowledge of Shakespeare's works. Now I am attempting to compare and contrast S. "Five Stars" according to William. Some Shakespeare's contemporaries are almor=st as interesting
