Detailed Case Studies and practical assignments ground action analysis methodology with real life examples. Action Analysis for Animators is a essential guide for students, amateurs and professionals.. This is a fundamental skill that all animators need to create polished, believable animation. Action Analysis is one of the fundamental princples of animation that underpins all types of animation: 2d, 3d, computer animation, stop motion, etc. An example of Action Analysis would be Shrek's swagger in the film, Shrek. The animators clearly understood (through action analysis) the type of walk achieved by a large and heavy individual (the real) and then applied their observations to the animated character of an ogre (the fantastic). It is action analysis that enabled the animation team to visually translate a real life situation into an ogre's walk, achieving such fantastic results.Key animation skills are demonstrated with in-depth illustrations, photographs and live action footage filmed wi

"great" according to R. Mutt. As a non-animator wanting to get a visual and scientifically accurate book on kinesiology, I really liked this book. It explained a lot and showed a lot. The sections on facial expressions didn't show or tell me anything useful, but where useful information exists it packs a punch. The only other complaint is the tiny pictures in the sequences of motion. They were difficult to see and, had they been bigger and illustrated to show motion lines and "prime movers" (as used in other parts of the book) I would have learned a lot more from them.A little rough around the edges, but a great start to a great reference guide. I hope to see an i. Action Anaylsis for Animators The beauty of this book is its depth. The information in this book would probably be crammed into one chapter of other animating books, so the detail involved is just brilliant. It's also beautifully designed and easy to scour for just what you want If you are an animator, this is a must have book.
